 CLUB ORIENTATION

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  1. There are various curling options. Be sure to sign up for events in which you wish to participate throughout the year.  Relevant information will be posted around the club and here on our website.  There is a "before" and "after" Christmas Draw in all leagues except the Competitive League.  You must sign up at the beginning of December for the second curling draw.  the lists will be posted on the respective boards, i.e. Ladies, Men and Mixed.  We ask that no children come to the Friday Mixed as it is a social night for adults only.

  2. It is the custom of the PECC that winners of a game buy their opponent a drink after the game.  The opponent the reciprocates with the next drink. (Does not apply to Ladies daytime curling).

  3. You are encouraged to attend the New Curlers Clinic at the start of the season.  This will allow you to obtain: an overview of the rules of the game; and explanation of Hog line rules, sweeping rules, positions etc.; and a brief description of the rules of etiquette.  Do not hesitate to contact your skip - or any veteran curling member - should you wish further explanations or clarification on any point.  They will be pleased to help you out.

  4. A fee of $5.00/$10.00 will be collected for the Men's/Ladies Leagues to cover year-end prizes. The contact person of each draw will collect this at the beginning of the season.

  5. Lockers cost $10.00 and are available throughout the season.

  6. Work Duty Cheque: At the beginning of the curling season a post -dated cheque for $150 is required. If at the end of the curling season you have worked your required hours, your Cheque will be returned to you; if not, your Cheque will be cashed.  The requirement is 6 hours of duty - working the bar, the kitchen or helping with maintenance, participating on the board, looking after scheduling, chairing or assisting a committee for a special event or managing/coaching a school/junior curling program.  You will find a list of work duties available, posted on the Work Duties Board in the hallway. It is really up to the member to check the board on available work duties, although the Club will do its best to advertise available work.

  7. All the club communication boards are located downstairs in the hallway. Copies of curling schedules are located in mail slots on your left as you enter the lounge.

  8. For a deposit of $3.00 front door keys are available from the Vice President

  9. Make yourself at home.  this is your club.  If you have any membership issues,  Please contact our Membership director.

We hope you will enjoy your curling experience in Port Elgin.
