The Port Elgin Chrysler 23 Ontario Tankard and Scotties presented by Bruce Power was nothing short of phenomenal from many standpoints. Sundays Scotties Final between Rachel Homan from the Ottawa Curling Club and Hollie Duncan of the Woodstock Curling Club entertained the sellout crowd at the Plex. Team Homan got out to an early lead and never looked back in a 9-2 win in 8 ends. The Tankard final went much the same way for Mike McEwen from the Royal Canadian Curling Club over Glenn Howard from the Penetanguishene Curling Club. McEwen was up 7-1 at the 5th end break on the way to an 8-3 win in 7 ends.
Estimated attendance over the week topped 10,000 excited curling fans who were treated to incredible curling and entertainment.
Estimated viewership of the Curlon TV broadasts were in excess of 1 million people across the world.
Organizers want to thank the sponsors, teams, fans, town staff, and anyone that lended a hand to make this the best Tankard / Scotties ever!
Congratulations to Team Champ!
