A NEWSLETTER FOR CURLERS

WORK DUTY SHEETS ARE POSTED

We need members to sign up for work duty!  Duty sheets are posted on the bulletin board outside the ladies’ locker room downstairs at the club.  Currently the work duties required are for Superspiel, November 12, 13 & 14 and include bartending, kitchen duty and COVID sign in.

SUPERSPIEL

Wow, 39 years for Superspiel!  This year the event has two full draws of competitive curlers and one draw of senior curlers.  The curlers will compete at our club and at the Southampton curling club.  This year Superspiel is flying “under the radar” with very little fanfare due to the COVID restrictions on capacity at the curling clubs.  Spectators are, unfortunately, not encouraged.  The event will certainly be enjoyed by the curlers on our great ice and they will experience our usual outstanding hospitality accompanied by great food and bar!  You will see signs in the windows of generous sponsors around town who have again stepped up to sponsor Superspiel and honour it’s tradition in our community.

FRIDAY AFTERNOON CURLING

brooms and rocks

Are your Friday afternoons a little dull?  Would you like to start your weekend with a new, fast moving social game of curling?  Read on!

Friday afternoon curling is beginning this Friday at 1:00 PM.  You can sign up or just drop in.  Couples and singles are welcome and you can certainly bring more member friends if you wish.

Deb Struys is organizing Fridays and she has some ideas to share with those who come to curl and try some creative, new games.  Curling Canada is highlighting a game they call Triples which is a fast-moving game with teams of three.  Each team throws 6 shots/end and scoring is unique.  The afternoons may also involve some 4 person teams, some doubles and some other new approaches to the game.  A mixed bag of curling ideas.

If you are interested in signing up, contact Deb This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..  If you are interested in dropping in, no sign up is required.  Come on out and join the group on Friday at 1:00 PM and give it a try.

Friday afternoons…some lighthearted curling fun with members.  A good way to start the weekend.
