As you all know, the survival of the club depends on the recruitment and retention of new members. We will continue to offer discounted pricing to new members. There will be a $60 discount per draw for adults and $16 per draw for juniors registered to play in adult leagues.
It is up to us, as members of the club, to welcome these new curlers into our groups both on and off the ice. The ultimate goal is to see them return year after year. So please, let’s all be ambassadors for our club.
LOCKERS
Lockers will be available for $10.00 for the season. If you require a locker or have questions, see Gary Hamer.
MEMBERSHIP WORK DUTIES
Work duty will be posted in the club and requests for help will be sent electronically. Please help out when you can! We always need volunteers to work on committees such as: scheduling, Super Spiel, special events, etc. This is YOUR club, and any volunteer help is greatly appreciated. Contact any Board Member for more details and watch for Work Duty postings outside the change rooms.
MEMBERSHIP ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
There will only be one Annual General Membership meeting this year as per the new bylaws. We ask that all members attend the meeting that will be held Thursday October 20, 2022 at 7pm at the club. More info to follow.
SKIP’S CHOICE LEAGUE CURLING
This league consists of teams of 4 or 5 people who decide they want to play together and enter a team in the league at the beginning of the curling season. The games are played on Thursday night but depending on the number of teams entered and the number of available nights to play, there could be a need to have some games played outside of the Thursday night schedule. There will be 2/3 flights depending on numbers. Each team will play every team in their flight. Teams will move up and down flights depending on the resulting points from the completed round robin. Points will be based on win = 2pts, tie = 1pt, loss = 0pts
AFTERNOON CURLING
Every Tuesday and Thursday from 1:00 to 3:00 PM non-members are welcome to play and they “pay-as-you-play” (full club members curl for free). This is non-competitive fun for adults of all ages. No need to register – just be at the club at 12:40 pm.
We would like to have one sheet of ice designated for Ladies to encourage some fun afternoon curling or extra practice time for new or existing members.
DOUBLES CURLING
Doubles league runs Wednesday evenings. Doubles curling is growing in interest and gaining popularity. Mixed Doubles is now played in more countries of the world than the traditional game itself. Beyond the obvious, a two-person team versus a four-person team, the core element of the game itself remains intact in the Doubles game. Teams can be mixed, or of the same gender, young or mature curlers.
More information will be available on registration night or visit www.ontcurl.com for a detailed description of the game.
OPEN LEAGUES
Last year we opened up Tuesday Evening for anyone interested in curling. You will be able to sign up as a single, a couple or a team. Please contact Deb Struys.
Monday Afternoon Ladies and Monday Evening Men’s leagues will continue as per usual.
